The Colombiere

Test your climbing legs and get inspired as you climb a Tour de France legend the Hors-Categorie Col de la Colombiere. After lunch, the Col de Croix Fry, last featured in the 2013 Tour de France, and the Col de Aravis will take us to complete our first big day in the Alps.

Day 3

The Madeleine

Today we leave our hotel by bicycle and will be cycling all the way to our next base in the Savoie region. To get there we’ll enjoy impressive views of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe. On route we have a big mountain top to summit – the 24km Col de la Madeleine, a “hors” (beyond) category Tour de France legend.

Day 4

56 miles (90 km)

+9,918 feet (3024 m)

Lacet de Montvernier, Col du Chaussy, Col du Glandon / Croix de Fer

The Glandon

Today’s ride features a classic loop around the mountains of La Maurienne. First up is the incredible route up the Lacets de Montvernier followed by the climb to the Col du Chaussy. Both of these climbs featured in the 2015 Tour de France. The Col du Glandon is next up which leads into the Col de la Croix de Fer. Enjoy a thrilling descent back down into town for some well deserved relaxation.

Day 5

+12,329 feet (3759 m)

Col du Telegraphe, Col de Galibier, Alpe d’Huez

The Galibier and Alpe d’Huez!

Today’s ride takes us to our last hotel for the trip on Alpe d’Huez and it is our biggest elevation gain day. This is a legendary route including the Galibier and Alpe d’Huez in the same day! The first climb today is the Col de Telegraphe followed by the Col du Galibier, a total of 35kms of climbing and one of the most challenging climbs in Europe. From the Galibier we have a 40km descent to Bourg d’Oisans where the legendary Alpe d’Huez climb begins!

Day 6

50 miles (80 km)

+9,643 feet (2940 m)

Villard la Garde, Col d’Ornon, Col de Sarenne

Col de Sarenne

Explore a hidden gem off the beaten path along a road cut into the side of the mountain and along gravel farm tracks. This little known climb is sure to thrill your senses. We’ll join up with the Col d’Ornon then descend into Bourg d’Oisan for lunch. The final climb of our trip is the Col de Sarenne, last ridden the 2015 TdF and arguably a tougher climb than the better known Alpe d’Huez climb.
